Here’s what the Council on Aging has planned for May

May is here and the Dartmouth Council on Aging will be hosting a full schedule of events/activities. Here’s what’s coming up this month:

Senior Supper Club
On Tuesday, May 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. the COA will host a senior supper club dinner, featuring a brief overview of tick safety from Dartmouth Public Health Nurse, Maura Reimer followed by a performance from the Uke class. Cost is $5.

Field trip: New Bedford Art Museum
On Friday, May 6 the COA will host a guided tour of the New Bedford Art Museum. The trip is free, but pre-registration is required. The van will leave the senior center at 10 a.m.

Mother’s Day lunch
On Friday, May 13, the COA will go to Dunbar Tea House to enjoy a Windsor Afternoon Tea or lunch. The cost is $30 and pre-registration is required. The van will leave the senior center at 10 a.m.

Food boot camp
On Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m. between May 19 and June 23, Joanne Mello will help attendees “reset” their relationship with food with a no-diet approach to healthy eating. The cost is $3 per class. Walkins are welcome.

Line dancing workshop
On Fridays at 1 p.m. between May 20 and July 1, the COA will hold a line dancing workshop. The cost is $3 per class. Walkins are welcome.

Gentle Yoga
On Fridays from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Jane Hoffman will teach gentle yoga. The cost is $5 per class.

Parkinson’s chair yoga
On Tuesdays at 1 p.m. starting May 24, the COA will host chair yoga classes designed for people with Parkinson’s. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $75 for six sessions.

Tailgate party
On Friday, May 27 from noon to 2:30 p.m., the COA will host a tailgating party featuring boxed lunches and live entertainment with Jordan Paiva. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $5. Bring your own lawn chairs.

Register for June beach party
Registration is open for the COA’s beach party at Apponagansett Park on June 6. The event will include entertainment and hamburgers and hot dogs. The cost is $3.
