A new Audi and Volkswagen dealership could be coming to Dartmouth
The Zoning Board of Appeals heard the case for a new Audi and Volkswagen dealership that could be built on State Road, between the Walmart and Dartmouth Collision Center. They have scheduled a second meeting to consider potential impacts of their variance request on Thursday, Jan. 22.
The petitioner, Michael McVey and Martin Dartmouth Realty LLC representing PRM Auto Holdings, applied for a variance to build the dealership.
Due to having less footage between the road and parking, their request was declined by the building commissioner. The zoning bylaws call for 40 feet, but the plans have a distance of 19.5 feet.
Due to a stream and being partially in wetlands, a number of residents raised concerns about the stormwater plans and nearby vernal ponds. Another concern was the traffic flow, especially with the site being near the Walmart. However, these concerns would be heard by the Planning Board, not the Zoning Board.
The board asked that McVey put together legal rationale and proposed findings of shortening the distance from the parking to the road and present them at the Jan. 22 meeting.
