The performance's story centered around the construction of a house.Peaking in and out of doors and twirling flags featuring floor plans, the Dartmouth High School winter guard put on a performance fit for an architect.
The routine, titled The Architect, follows the story of a house being built, beginning with the planning and ending with the house being constructed.
Senior and team captain Ella Gates called the first part of the show “very peppy and energetic” and called the second part the “brain fog stage.”
“You're so frustrated that you don't know what's going on,” she said of the second part.
On Saturday, March 14 the team performed at Dartmouth High School where they won their division with a score of 81.38.
Junior Nina Pittman said the win felt “very emotional” because not only was it the first time they placed first this season, but they also did so at a home show.
“We have one senior, and it's her last year,” she added.
Gates, who is the only senior on the team, said that “everyone really did an incredible job.”
She added, “I am so incredibly proud of them forever and always.”
So far this season the team has been practicing their reps, working to get their routine “clean and ready” for their next show,” junior Jake Nunes said.
“I feel like we've been working really hard this season, and it's been paying off really well,” he said.
The team will be going to Pennsylvania next week to compete in the Power Regionals, have some more competitions in Salem, and will have a friends and family show at Dartmouth High School.
Gates said that the season has been “pretty great.”
“Everyone is just so, so amazing, and I wouldn't have it any other way,” she said.
