Bees and wax at the Dartmouth Cultural Center
Apr 27, 2026
The Dartmouth Cultural Center is welcoming its next exhibit, “Found Wax,” on May 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Married artists, Susan Medyn and David Formanek, are having their first joint exhibition in 25 years.
Medyn works with living honeybee colonies by placing sculptural frameworks into living hives. The bees build, reshape and dismantle the frames to create the works.
Formanek submerges wax in cold water to create swirling surfaces, where he creates relief clay figures in the environment of the wax. They become wall-mounted reliefs after being cast in plaster.
