DGAL field hockey celebrates 15 years
The Dartmouth Girls Athletic League celebrated 15 years of field hockey, which was started by Sherri Tetrault in 2010.
“I hope it goes another 15, 45, 90 years as well,” said field hockey commissioner Courtney Cohen.
During the field hockey opening day, the commissioners Cohen and Nicole Mello went over Tetrault’s history with field hockey.
There was lots of fun to celebrate the anniversary, with Dels donated from Macray's Seafood, a food truck and a bouncy house.
Field hockey started in the spring for kids in grades three to eight. The program now has 225 players split between 14 teams with 32 coaches, representing 26 communities.
“I’m really happy that the programs continue,” said Tetrault. “Field hockey has always been my top score, my top love. So I’m glad they continued it and then expanded and it’s just giving so many people an opportunity to play the court.”
She started the program with a check from Walmart, which has grown to 16 sponsors.
Tetrault stayed for the years her daughters played, and returned to celebrate the 15 year anniversary.
