Norma J. Ferreira

Norma Jeanne (Chagnon) Ferreira passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025 after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease surrounded by her loving family. 

She was the beloved wife of Michael Ferreira and a devoted mother to Brian Ferreira, Leanne Ferreira, and Scott Ferreira. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Alijah Ferreira whom was her pride and joy, and Cal Rego; her daughter-in-law, Natasha Ferreira; and her Godchildren, Nathaniel Chagnon and Thomas Chagnon. She was the daughter of the late Armand and Gladys Chagnon and sister to Armand Chagnon and the late George Chagnon.

Norma graduated from New Bedford High School with the class of 1968. She later graduated Diman Nursing School and devoted her life to caring for others as a nurse, embodying compassion and dedication in everything she did. She began her career working at St. Luke's Hospital and then worked at the Kennedy Donovan Center and several other places in the healthcare field, ending her career as a visiting nurse for Personal Touch. 

She was a resident of Dartmouth, MA and enjoyed spending time at her second home with her husband and many friends in Rockledge, Florida. Outside of her profession, she found joy in shopping, cooking, and hosting cookouts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed watching Patriots games, reading novels, decorating for the holidays, and watching her children and her grandson, Alijah, play sports.

Norma's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will forever be remembered by all who knew her.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 10 AM in St. Mary's Church, 795 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday, January 2nd from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
