Soccer seniors get a send-off
The crowd cheered in excitement at the Dartmouth High School boys soccer game in celebration of their seniors and their win against North Attleboro High School on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
While excited and happy about how the season has been going, the seniors are sad to leave the team. They do agree though that it’s a necessity to grow.
“It’s, of course, a sad thing but last year we got to give it our best,” said Lucas Macedo.
Most are heading off to college, although they are still waiting to see where they end up.
“I’m going to miss it, but everyone has to graduate,” said Caiden DeCosta, who is planning to major in finance. “I’m happy to go on and live life.”
Almost all the seniors said that the team is their favorite part of playing soccer, as well as the sport itself.
“To the young kids, everyone should play soccer,” said Landon Raposa, who is planning to go into business or business sports management. “It’s one of the best sports in the world.”
Raposa is considering playing soccer in college as well.
Coach Joshua Silva said he is proud of the seniors and their journeys, stating many of them have been with the team for three years.
“It’s been a pleasure coaching them over the past three years,” he said. “They’re just a bunch of great kids.”
They have started competing in the Massachusetts Interscolastic Athletic Association, starting off with a 4-0 win against Marshfield High School.
"I was proud of the team in terms of how we came out, with that sense of aggresion," Silva said, "We take it day by day. At this point of the season, every team is good."
