Jam out to the Don Legge Trio at UMass Dartmouth
Join UMass Dartmouth’s College of Visual and Performing Arts for a jazz ensemble featuring the Donn Legge Trio on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Legge is a jazz performer and educator with over two decades of experience. The event will be held in the CVPA 153, which is located at 285 Old Westport Road.
Friday, Nov. 7
Attend a Veterans Day lunch
On Friday, Nov. 7 join the Dartmouth Friends of the Elderly for a Veterans Day lunch.
All Dartmouth veterans are invited to attend. Widows and widowers of veterans are also welcome to attend.
The lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will be held at Rachel’s Lakeside at 950 State Road.

Attend an author talk about a 1950s Irish American family
Learn about the heartwarming and heart wrenching story of a young Irish American and her working class family in local author Catherine McLaughlin’s upcoming author talk.
“Blue Collar” is set in the South End of New Bedford in the 1950s through 70s, following main character Fiona “Finn” Kilroy. In this story, Portuguese, Irish, French, African American and Cape Verdean families live side by side in three-decker tenements near the mills where they work.
McLaughlin’s author talk will be held on Friday, Nov. 7 starting at 7 p.m. at the Dartmouth Cultural Center.

Saturday, Nov. 8
Get ahead of holiday shopping
Join St. Julie’s Ladies Guild to get some holiday shopping done early on Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bishop Stang High School.
There will be over 40 businesses selling homemade crafts, and a raffle with goods made by the crafters. The raffle ticket sale will end at 1 p.m. on Sunday and the winners will be announced at 2 p.m.
The fair will be in the cafeteria of Bishop Stang, located at 500 Slocum Road.

Songs and social justice
Listen to some good music and music for good at the Social Justice Choir of Southeastern Massachusetts Fall Festival on Sunday, Nov. 9 starting at 4 p.m.
The festival melds voices from Bridgewater State University, UMass Dartmouth and those in the community. The festival will feature songs.such as Elaine Hagenberg’s “Refuge,” the traditional protest song “We Shall Not be Moved” and the Doobie Brother’s “Listen to the Music.”
While the performance is free, the choir is asking for donations of shelf stable food for both university food banks as well as coats and cold-weather clothes for Bridgewater’s First Congregational Church UCC.
People are welcome not only to come and listen, but to join in. To participate in the chorus, sign up at tinyurl.com/bdzz77hj. Rehearsals will be on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 9 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The festival will be held at the Bridgewater State University’s Horace Mann Auditorium, 131 Summer Street in Bridgewater.

Tuesday, Nov. 11
Honor veterans at an upcoming Veterans Day ceremony
Attend a ceremony honoring the community’s veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Organized by the Dartmouth Veterans Advisory Board, this event will be held rain or shine. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Council on Aging at 628 Dartmouth Street.
