Tiny Mite cheerleaders head to national competition
The Dartmouth Youth Football League Tiny Mite cheerleading team is on a winning streak: it won first place in the Tiny Mites small category at the Rhode Island Southeastern Massachusetts Pop Warner competition in October, where it also secured the Grand Champion Tiny Mite title, meaning they scored higher than all Tiny Mite team categories. They then advanced to the regional competition at Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, where they again won first place in the small category.
This success sets the team up for the national competition in Orlando, Florida on Dec. 6.
The team consists of nine cheerleaders between the ages of six and eight. The Tiny Mite Cheer team includes third year cheerleaders Piper Mota and Madison Ferreira, second year cheerleaders Emily Gauthier, Vivian Amaral, Emma Pacheco and Madilyn Silva. The team welcomed three new cheerleaders this year: Bellamy Bundy, Greycen Pacheco and Holland Botelho
The team is led by Head Coach Kasey Martin.
Throughout the season, the cheerleaders have also participated in multiple fundraising efforts, but the team still has costs to cover. Any donation or sponsorship the Tiny Mites receive will go towards the competition entry fees, flights and hotels.
“The donations are essential to ensure the Tiny Mites are able to show off nationally what they have worked so hard towards and to represent their Dartmouth Community,” read a statement from coach Martin.
Donations can be made out to Dartmouth Youth Football League. Contact Coach Kasey Martin at KNMart2011@gmail.com to arrange for pick up.
