Dartmouth Public Schools spend over $51,000 in snow removal
Mar 02, 2026
The Dartmouth Public Schools district has spent $51,060.77 for snow removal so far this year.
This includes $28,000 in overtime pay, $3,000 for salt, $10,000 to hire contractors and $10,000 for machine repairs and parts, fuel and other needs.
“We’ve never spent that much in my time here,” said James Kiely, the assistant superintendent of finance operations, “So it’s significant for sure.”
Kiely was able to fill out FEMA paperwork for a reimbursement, since a state of emergency was in place and the town was eligible.
“It takes a long time to get the money from them, and it’s not money that would come to us,” he said. “It would be general fund receipts, but it hopefully will benefit the town and get some money back.
