Students in the DHSTVmedia program recognized in statewide contest
Dartmouth High School has received state-wide recognition for the Dartmouth High School Television Media program, also known as DHSTVmedia.
The overall program won top honors in the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for Boston/New England Student Production Awards.
“They’re being awarded an Emmy,” said Superintendent June Saba-Maguire, “Only for high school students and it’s not called the Emmys. We’re not supposed to call it the Emmys but it’s Emmy-like.”
Two students were also recognized for pieces they produced for DHSTVmedia.
Sofia Faria, a senior, won first in two categories; her video “One Dartmouth High School” won in the Promotional Video category and her editing on the school’s weekly news for the segment “DHNN Spongebob the Musical Episode” in the Editor category.
Aaron Charest, a sophomore, won first place in the Animation/Graphics/Special Effects category for his video Ninja Bread Cookie.
The Christmas video follows a gingerbread cookie. The cookies were baked from scratch by a chef, played by Kristy Charest. After coming out of the oven, one cookie had some magic powder dumped on them and came to life.
Charest used stop motion, green screen and audio effects to bring the cookie to life. He received audio help from Niyel Arroyo.
Charest also won an honorable mention for “The Plastic Nightmare” in the Fiction- Short Form category.
Several other students won honorable mentions, such as Landon Almeida, who won in the Nonfiction- Short Form category for his editing of the video “DHS Career and Internship fair 2025.”
Multiple students got an honorable mention in the Public Service Announcement (PSA) category for the video “Coach P’s Walk to School Class.” Cole Bouchard and Charest were actors, Leandro Belicio was the editor and Trent Barboza and Maxwell Forgues ran the cameras.
